Polička district

The Polička district (German "Politschka", Czech Okresní hejtmanství Polička ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in Eastern Bohemia in today's Pardubický kraj ( Okres Svitavy ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Polička . The area belonged to the First World War to Czechoslovakia and since 1993 has been part of the Czech Republic .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The Polička district was formed in 1868 from the court district of the same name Polička ( Czech soudní okres Polička ).

The Polička District lived 32,330 people in 1869, the district comprising an area of ​​5.6 square miles and 22 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 34,328 people who lived in an area of ​​320.42 km² or in 33 communities.

The Polička District covered an area of ​​320.42 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 34,727 people. Of the inhabitants in 1910, 24,788 stated Czech and 9904 German as their colloquial language. Furthermore, 35 people who speak other languages ​​or who are foreign to the state lived in the district. The district consisted of a judicial district with 33 communities and 34 cadastral communities.
