Hohenelbe district
The Hohenelbe District ( Czech Okresní hejtmanství Vrchlabí, politický okres Vrchlabí ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in the north of Bohemia, which lie in today's Okres Jičín on the border with Poland . The seat of the district administration was the town of Hohenelbe ( Vrchlabí ). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .
history
The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.
The Hohenelbe district was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Arnau ( Czech soudní okres Hostinn ) and Hohenelbe (Vrchlabí).
40,191 people lived in the Hohenelbe district in 1869, the district comprising an area of 6.1 square miles and 31 parishes.
In 1900 the district accommodated 44,220 people who lived in an area of 359.64 km² or in 38 communities.
In 1910 the Hohenelbe district covered an area of 359.64 km² and housed a population of 45,550 people. In 1910, 43,275 of the residents stated German as their colloquial language. There were also 1,555 Czech speakers and 720 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. Two judicial districts with a total of 35 communities and 38 cadastral communities belonged to the district.

At the end of 1914, the Hohenelbe district comprised the 35 communities Arnsdorf (Arnultovice), Friedrichsthal (Bedřichov), Polkendorf (Bolkov), Kleinborowitz (Borovnička), Tschermna (Čermná), Schwarzenthal (Černý Důl), Kottwitz (Chotěvice), Lauterwasser (Čistá), oels Döberney (Debrné) Hennersdorf (dolní branná) Niederprausnitz (dolní brusnice) Niederhofstraße (Dolni Dvůr), low Langenau (dolní lánov), low-oil (dolní olešnice), forestry (continuing), Hackel village (Herlíkovice), upper Hohenelbe (Horejsi Vrchlabí ), Oberprausnitz (Horní Brusnice), Oberlangenau (Horní Lánov), Oberöls (Horní Olešnice), Arnau (Hostinné), Mohren (Javorník), Mönchsdorf (Klášterská Lhota), Pelsdorf (Kunčice), Krausebauden (Labská), Harta (Podhůří) , Ochs trench (Přední Labská) Proschwitz (Prosečné), means Langenau (Prostřední Lánov) Hermannseifen (Rudník) Anseith (Souvrat) Spindelmühle (Špindlerův Mlýn) Strážné (Strážné) Hohenelbe (Vrchlabí) and Switschin (Zvičina).
