Hořowitz district

The District of Hořowitz ( Czech : Okresní hejtmanství Hořovice ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in western Bohemia in today's Středočeský kraj ( Okres Beroun ). The seat of the district administration was the town of Hořowitz (Hořovice). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The district Hořowitz was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts Hořowitz (Czech: soudní okres Hořovice ), Beraun ( Beroun ) and Zbirow ( Zbiroh ).

The judicial district Zbirow was separated from the district Hořowitz on September 1, 1896 and together with the judicial district Rokitzan formed the district Rokitzan .

83,960 people lived in the Hořowitz district in 1869, with the district covering an area of ​​17.1 square miles and 106 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 69,719 people who lived in an area of ​​581.84 km² or in 89 communities.

The Hořowitz district covered an area of ​​581.84 km² in 1910 and a population of 74,915 people. Of the inhabitants, 73,690 had given Czech and 1,041 German as their colloquial language. There were also 184 foreign speakers or foreigners in the district. Two judicial districts with a total of 90 communities and 104 cadastral communities belonged to the district.
