Selčan district

The Selčan District ( Czech : Okresní hejtmanství Sedlčany ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in Central Bohemia in today's Středočeský kraj ( Okres Benešov or Okres Příbram ). The seat of the district administration was the town of Selčan (Sedlčany). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

history

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The Selčan district was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts Sedletz (Czech: soudní okres Sedlec ), Selčan ( Sedlčany ) and Wotitz ( Votice ).

The Selčan district lived 65,857 people in 1869, the district comprising an area of ​​13.7 square miles and 66 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 56,931 people who lived in an area of ​​744.96 km² or in 77 communities.

The Selčan district covered an area of ​​744.95 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 54,051 people. In 1910, 54,051 of the population stated Czech and 34 German as their colloquial language. In addition, 54 people who spoke another language or were foreign to the state lived in the district. The district included three judicial districts with a total of 81 communities and 152 cadastral communities.
