Pisek district

The district of Pisek ( Czech Okresní hejtmanství Písek ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in South Bohemia and in the Central Bohemian hill country in today's Jihočeský kraj ( Okres Písek or Okres Strakonice ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Pisek ( Písek ). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The district of Pisek was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Pisek ( Czech soudní okres Písek ), Mirowitz ( Mirovice ) and Wodňan ( Vodňany ).

The Pisek district was home to 73,779 people in 1869, with the district covering an area of ​​16.4 square miles and 69 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 78,308 people who lived in an area of ​​973.63 km² or in 111 communities.

The Pisek District covered an area of ​​973.63 km² in 1910 and a population of 79,096 people. In 1910, 78,644 of the population stated Czech and 289 German as their colloquial language. There were also 163 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. The district included three judicial districts with a total of 116 communities and 154 cadastral communities.
