The Senftenberg District ( Okresní hejtmanství Žamberk in Czech ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district included areas in northeast Bohemia in today's Pardubický kraj or Královéhradecký kraj ( Okres Náchod , Okres Ústí nad Orlicí or Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Senftenberg ( Žamberk ). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

history

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The Senftenberg district was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts Grulich ( Czech soudní okres Králíky ) and Senftenberg ( Žamberk ).

In 1869 the creation of the judicial district of Rokitnitz was determined, whereby 10 communities were eliminated from the judicial district Senftenberg and 19 from the judicial district Reichenau . The newly created judicial district was finally assigned to the Senftenberg district, with the Rokitnitz district court taking up its activities on June 15, 1869.

The Senftenberg district lived 62,155 people in 1869, with the district comprising an area of 10.6 square miles and 79 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 60,090 people who lived in an area of 600.10 km² or in 79 communities.

The Senftenberg district covered an area of 600.06 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 58,710 people. Of the inhabitants in 1910, 30,581 stated Czech and 27,726 German as their colloquial language. There were also 403 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. While the Senftenberg judicial district was almost exclusively inhabited by Czechs, the Grulich and Rokitnitz judicial districts were almost exclusively German-speaking. The district included three judicial districts with a total of 79 communities and 79 cadastral communities.
