Pilsen district
The Pilsen District ( Okresní hejtmanství Plzeň in Czech ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in western Bohemia in today's Plzeňský kraj ( Okres Plzeň-jih or Okres Plzeň-město ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Pilsen ( Plzeň ). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.
The Pilsen district was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Pilsen ( Czech soudní okres Plzeň ), Blowitz ( Blovice ) and Rokitzan ( Rokycany ).
The judicial district Rokycan (also: Rokitzan) was separated from the Pilsen district on September 1, 1896, and together with the judicial district Zbirow formed the Rokitzan district .
In 1869 there were 99,027 people living in the Pilsen District, the district comprising an area of 16.8 square miles and 137 parishes.
In 1900 the district accommodated 132,346 people who lived in an area of 659.70 km² or in 103 communities.
In 1910, the Pilsen district covered an area of 659.71 km² and a population of 156,073 people. Of the residents, 143,594 stated Czech and 11,763 German as their colloquial language. In addition, there were 716 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. Two judicial districts with a total of 103 communities and 110 cadastral communities belonged to the district.
