Karolinenthal district

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Karolinenthal District ( Okresní hejtmanství Karlín in Czech ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district included areas in northeast Bohemia in today's Pardubický kraj or Královéhradecký kraj ( Okres Náchod , Okres Ústí nad Orlicí or Okres Rychnov nad Kněžnou ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Karolinenthal ( Karlín ). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

history

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The Karolinenthal district was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts Brandeis ( Czech soudní okres Brandýs ), Eule ( Jílové ) and Karolinenthal ( Karlín ).

In 1876 the establishment of the royal vineyards judicial district was determined, for which 16 communities were withdrawn from the Karolinenthal judicial district. Due to the location of the district court in the municipality of Königliche Weinberge II, the judicial district was originally also called the judicial district of Königliche Weinberge II . This change became officially effective on August 1, 1878, with the new district court also taking up its activity on this date.

The separation of the royal vineyards judicial district was also reflected in the administration in 1884. As of October 1, 1884, the Ministry of the Interior determined the division of the Karolinenthal district by ordinance, whereby the royal vineyards and owl districts were separated from the Karolinenthal district and merged to form the royal vineyards district.

With the separation of the judicial district of Brandeis on the Elbe and its elevation to the political district on October 1, 1908, the Karolinenthal district ultimately consisted only of the Karolinenthal judicial district.

In the Karolinenthal district in 1869 there were 121,286 people, the district comprising an area of 15.4 square miles and 135 parishes.

In 1900, after the first loss of territory, the district accommodated 93,745 people who lived in an area of 511.75 km² or in 93 communities.

The Karolinenthal district comprised only 207.64 km² in 1910 after the Brandeis judicial district was split off and housed a population of 69,184 people. In 1910, 65,169 of the inhabitants stated Czech and 3,538 German as their colloquial language. Furthermore, 477 foreign speakers or foreigners lived in the district. At last only one judicial district with 39 communities and 48 cadastral communities belonged to the district.
