Reichenberg District (Kingdom of Bohemia)

The Reichenberg District ( Czech Okresní hejtmanství Liberec, politický okres Liberec ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in the north of Bohemia in Okres Liberec . The seat of the district administration was the city of Reichenberg (Liberec). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

history

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The Reichenberg district was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Kratzau (Czech: soudní okres Chrastava) and Reichenberg (Liberec).

In 1869 there were 62,115 people living in the Reichenberg district, the district comprising an area of ​​5.3 square miles and 43 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 84,208 people who lived in an area of ​​314.09 km² or in 56 communities.

The Reichenberg district covered an area of ​​314.08 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 93,662 people. In 1910, 85,339 of the inhabitants stated that German was their colloquial language. Furthermore, 6,268 Czech speakers and 2,055 foreign speakers or foreigners lived in the district. 80% of the Czech speakers lived in the judicial district of Reichenberg. The district included two judicial districts with a total of 56 communities and 60 cadastral communities.
