Klattau district

The district of Klattau ( Czech : Okresní hejtmanství Klatovy ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in south-west Bohemia in what is now Plzeňský kraj ( Okres Klatovy ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Klattau (Klatovy). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The district of Klattau was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Klattau ( Czech : soudní okres Klatovy ), Neuern ( Nýrsko ) and Planitz ( Plánice ).

68,112 people lived in the Klattau district in 1869, the district comprising an area of ​​14.2 square miles and 99 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 74,905 people who lived in an area of ​​871.75 km² or in 128 communities.

The Klattau district covered an area of ​​871.75 km² in 1910 and a population of 78,383 people. Of the inhabitants in 1910, 17,211 had German and 60,923 Czech as their colloquial language. In addition, there were 249 people speaking other languages ​​or foreigners living in the district. While the Neuern judicial district was almost exclusively inhabited by German speakers, the other two judicial districts had an almost exclusively Czech population. In 1910, the district consisted of three judicial districts with a total of 140 communities and 209 cadastral communities.
