Okres Klatovy (German: District Klattau ) is a district in Plzeňský kraj ( Pilsen district ) in the Czech Republic with around 88,000 inhabitants and an area of 1,946 km², 43% of which is forested. There are also numerous lakes in the region.
Administrative division
The district comprises a total of 94 municipalities, including four towns and 14 cities.

On January 1, 2007, the municipalities Borovy and Nezdice moved to the Okres Plzeň-jih , at the same time Černíkov came from the Okres Domažlice .
With a population density of 45 inhabitants / km², the district is well below the intersection of the district and the country.
economy
The industry is mainly concentrated in three largest cities, Klatovy, Sušice and Horažďovice. The food and textile industries as well as mechanical engineering and construction make up the largest share. In agriculture, mainly grain, potatoes and beets are grown. Livestock breeding consists mainly of keeping cattle, pigs and poultry. The unemployment rate is 6.4%.

Tourism plays a major role. The untouched nature and monuments attract numerous tourists

- Rabí Castle , the largest castle in the Czech Republic from 1300
- Švihov Castle , originally a fortress built in 1480
- Klenová Castle southwest of Klatovy with its own gallery
- Velhartice Castle with a neighboring village with rich folk architecture
- Kašperk Castle built as a royal castle under Charles IV.
- Horažďovice Castle with the City Museum
The Chudenicko area is also interesting, with a palace garden with rare plants.
traffic
The main railway line runs through Pilsen - Klatovy - Bayerisch Eisenstein from north to south, and is crossed by the branch line Domažlice -Klatovy- Horažďovice .
The main road connection is the 1st order road I / 27 in north-south direction, which is part of the European route 53 . There is also another first-order street, I / 22, which runs in an east-west direction.
