history

Kanice was first mentioned in writing in a deed of donation from Duke Břetislav I for 17 villages in the Prachin district from October 18, 1045 to the Breunau Benedictine Abbey , which is, however, a Breunau falsification from the 13th century. The Breunau abbot Martin I exchanged Kanice together with Krejnice around 1260 with the brothers Zdeslav von Kasejovice and Zdenko von Strahl, whose descendants gained the title of Kanice , for the village Třebovice near Breunau. Later the village belonged to the tribal lords of Fridburg on the Friedenburg and then to the Varlych von Bubna . After the destruction of the Friedenburg Castle in 1417, Kejnice became part of the Raby rule . Later, Emperor Sigismund pledged the Raby rule to the Lords of Riesenberg , and from 1437 it belonged to them. Břetislav Swihowsky von Riesenberg sold Kejnice in 1546 to Zbyněk Berka von Dubá . When Břetislav sold the entire Raby estate to Heinrich von Kurzbach the following year , Kejnice was already part of this again. In 1557 von Kurzbach sold parts of the estate, including Kejnice, to Diviš Malowetz von Libiegitz . Wilhelm von Rosenberg , who took over the indebted property of Diviš Malowetz in 1574, sold Frymburk and Kejnice to Jan Vojslav Branišovský von Branišov. He built a new mansion in Frymburk and sold Kejnice to finance it to Jan Kavka from Říčany on Žichovice . His son had to sell the Žichovice estate to Heinrich von Kolowrat -Liebsteinsky in 1603 . In the course of time the village was also called Chejnice , Koynitz and Keynitz . Franz von Kolowrat-Krakowsky sold the rule to Johann Philipp von Lamberg in 1707 . In the following year he acquired the Raby rule and in 1710 the Žihobce rule . He was succeeded by Franz Anton Reichsfürst von Lamberg , who raised the combined property to a Fideikommiss in 1716 . This was followed by his son Johann Friedrich Reichsfürst von Lamberg in 1760, who died in 1797 without heirs. With the extinction of the imperial line, their dignity, goods and offices fell in 1804 to Johann Friedrich's nephew Karl Eugen († 1831) from the younger line of the Lamberger, who was elevated to the position of imperial prince of Lamberg, baron of Ortenegg and Ottenstein on Stöckern and Amerang. His eldest son Gustav Joachim Fürst von Lamberg took over the inheritance in 1834.

In 1838 Koynitz , also called Kegnitz or Kögnitz , consisted of 34 houses with 255 Czech-speaking inhabitants. Of these, 30 houses belonged to the Schichowitz Fideikommissherrschaft and two houses each to the Strakonitz dominion and the Kalenitz estate . In the Schichowitz share there was a farm and an inn, and there was also a mill in Koynitz. The parish was in Nezamislitz . Until the middle of the 19th century Koynitz remained mostly subject to the Fideikommissherrschaft Schichowitz including the estates Raby , Budietitz , Žihobetz and Stradal.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Kajnice / Koynitz 1850 a municipality in Prachin county and judicial district Horažďowitz. From 1868 the community belonged to the Strakonitz district . Kejnice has been used as a Czech place name since 1886 . In 1930 the village was assigned to the newly formed Horažďovice district. At that time, 244 people lived in the 47 houses in Kejnice. When the Okres Horažďovice was abolished, Kejnice came to Okres Klatovy in 1960 . In 1961 the settlement Železný Újezd was renamed from Hejná to Kejnice and renamed Karlovce, the following year it received the status of a district. In 1970 the community consisted of 53 houses and 197 inhabitants. At the beginning of 1980 Kejnice was incorporated into Horažďovice . At that time, 187 people lived in the 59 houses of the community; nine houses were unoccupied. Kejnice has existed again since November 24, 1990. In 1997 the community consisted of 57 houses and had 134 inhabitants.
