Gustav Joachim Emanuel Carl Friedrich Joseph Johann Nepomuk Vincenz Fererius Ernest , Imperial Prince of Lamberg-Kunstadt , Baron von Ortenegg and Stockern on Ottenstein and Amerang (* December 21, 1812 in Salzburg ; † February 3, 1862 in Munich ) was an Austrian nobleman and from 1834 the sixth and last prince of Lamberg . He was a hereditary member of the manor house , the highest hereditary land treasurer and chief hereditary land hunter in Steyr an der Enns, chief hereditary land keeper of the Carniola and Windischen Mark , knight of honor of the Order of St. John and owner of the family entourage Steyr and Schichowitz as well as other goods. Ostracized because of his involvement in the assassination attempt on Crown Prince Ferdinand in 1832 and punished for a marriage ban, he entered into a morganatic marriage with his lover Kateřina Hrádková after his amnesty .

Life

Gustav Joachim von Lamberg belonged to the noble family von Lamberg, who came from Carinthia and Carniola and were wealthy in Upper Austria and Bohemia. He was the eldest son of Prince Carl Eugen von Lamberg (1764–1831) and his wife Friderica, born in Oettingen-Oettingen and Oettingen-Wallerstein (1776–1831).

In 1832 the lieutenant of the Imperial and Royal Galician Uhlan Regiment "Prince of Schwarzenberg" No. 2 was involved in the assassination attempt on Crown Prince Ferdinand . As a result, Gustav Joachim von Lamberg was put on trial and a marriage ban, which resulted in the expiry of the princely title with his death, and the wearing of a ignoble, worn green cord around his neck as a token as a convict; at the same time, he was not allowed to stay on any of his lords for more than three months. In 1834 he took over his father's inheritance as Prince von Lamberg, Baron von Ortenegg and Stockern on Ottenstein and Amerang, etc. On May 27, 1847, Gustav Joachim von Lamberg called in a long speech to the Bohemian Assembly of Estates for a reduction in bureaucracy in Bohemia.

At a harvest festival in the Schichowitz estate in 1840, Gustav Joachim von Lamberg met Kateřina Hrádková, the twelve years younger daughter of the Schaffer von Čejkovy, Václav Hrádek and his wife Zuzana, née Kastnerová, and fell in love with them. After his amnesty by Franz Joseph I in 1854, Gustav Joachim von Lamberg married on January 6, 1855 in Strašín the mother of his eight children, to whom he had previously transferred his Austrian estate Lechnerdorf without the family's knowledge.

Because of the improper marriage, the relatives challenged him for the title of prince and the property associated with it. The family entourage Steyer and Schichowitz established by Johann Philipp von Lamberg regulated the exclusive transfer to the eldest son from a proper marriage and excluded illegitimate children as heirs. Gustav Joachim von Lamberg found his final resting place in the family pantheon St. Erasmus der Fürsten Lamberg near Nezamyslice , where his widow Katharina von Lamberg and most of his children were also buried.

After his only legitimate son Joseph Friedrich Emil von Lamberg had been excluded as an heir in 1878, the inheritance was finally given to Rudolf Graf Lamberg from the Hungarian branch of the Lamberg family. Katharina von Lamberg moved with her children to Lebenberg Castle near Kitzbühel . On February 4, 1887, Karl Wenzel Emil von Lamberg was deprived of the title of Prince of Lamberg.
