Lebenberg Castle

The Lebenberg Castle is located about a kilometer away from Kitzbühel on the 80 meter high hill life mountain.

history

After the Reichertsheimers von Wagrain acquired the castle in 1446, they had a new residential tower built halfway up the hill, which was called the Lebenberg from 1500 . Later owners were the Vinsterwalder family (1531-1545), Jänisch (until 1551), Lang von Wellenburg (until 1559) and Ungnad (until 1601). In 1693 Johann Philipp von Lamberg acquired the neighboring lords of Lebenberg, Münichau and Kapsbrunn.

In 1885/88 Hugo Anton Emil Graf von Lamberg opened one of the first guest houses in Kitzbühel in the Schlösschen. He leased some apartments to the first English winter sports guests. From 1930 to 1961 Count Schlick were the new owners, who first ran it as a rest home and from 1950 as a hotel. Today the five-star hotel belongs to the Austria Trend Hotel Group. In 2006 the Schlosshotel Lebenberg gave its name to the Catholic non-striking secondary school association Lebenberg Kitzbühel.
