The Castle Landeck is south of the city Landeck on a rocky knoll between eastern Talgehänge and the deeply incised Inn .

history

Originally built as a royal court castle for the Tyrolean rulers in the 4th quarter of the 13th century, the castle was first mentioned in a document in 1296. The castle was granted as a maintenance or pawnbrokerage , from 1518 to 1549 to the Schrofenstein Castle , from 1549 to 1705 to the Gienger . In 1840 the court moved to a former residence in Herzog-Friedrich-Straße and the castle became a military barracks. In 1942 the city of Landeck bought the castle, which was followed by restoration and a contemporary design from 1967 to 1973 for the Landeck district museum .

Castle

Initially a simple trapezoidal area with southern dungeon , northern rectangular Palas and connecting curtain wall. In the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century, the castle courtyard was built, with the castle chapel St. Stephan, east with side wings. Below the castle, kennels and a bailey were built on three sides with three three-quarter-round corner towers and key notches.
