history
The first written mention of Nalžov was in 1379 as the property of Hrabiše and Jan von Paběnice. At times the place was named Malzow and later Elischau or Ellischau. After silver finds, the owner of the Nalžovy estate, Svoješ von Welhartice , asked Vladislav II for permission to mine on his grounds. In 1521 he founded the mountain freedom Silberberg ob Ellischau next to the village . In 1530 Silberberg was separated from the rule of Ellischau and raised to the status of a royal mountain town . Its inhabitants were German miners who withdrew in the second half of the 17th century because the deposits were exhausted.
In 1769 the Counts of Taaffe acquired the rule of Ellischau.
After the abolition of patrimonial , Silberberg and Ellischau formed two political communities in the judicial district of Planice from 1848 and in the district authority of Klatovy from 1850 . In 1853 Silberberg was promoted to town. The Taaffe family sold the chateau to the Prague banker František Müller in 1936 due to over-indebtedness. In 1949 both places were assigned to the newly formed Okres Horažďovice, at the same time Zahrádka was incorporated into Stříbrné Hory. In 1951 the town of Stříbrné Hory merged with the municipality of Nalžovy to form the town of Nalžovské Hory. In 1954 Nalžovské Hory lost the town charter together with Strážov and Rejštejn . In 1961 the parish came back to Okres Klatovy . In 1976 Krutěnice, Ústaleč and Miřenice (with Letovy, Sedlečko and Otěšín) were incorporated. In 1980 Velenovy and Těchonice (with Neprochovy and Žďár) were added. In 1990 the districts of Nalžovy and Stříbrné Hory had a total of 501 inhabitants. Since September 24, 2007 Nalžovské Hory is a town again.
