Měčín (German Metschin , formerly Mirtschin or Mietschin ) is a city in the Czech Republic . It is located twelve kilometers northeast of Klatovy and belongs to the Okres Klatovy .

geography

Měčín is located on the upper reaches of the Třebýcinka in the Schwihauer hill country . The Chlumec (616 m) rises to the northeast. State roads II / 117 between Klatovy and Blovice and II / 182 between Petrovice and Borovy cross in Měčín .

Neighboring towns are Skašov in the northeast, Radkovice and Osobovy in the east, Bíluky in the southeast, Nedanice and Třebýcina in the southwest, Hráz, Mečkov and Malinec in the west and Babice in the northwest.

history

At the end of the 12th century, the Měčín manor came to the Lords of Drslavice , who settled in western Bohemia at that time and acquired extensive goods. The place and church were first mentioned in a document in 1352. Měčín has been referred to as a town since 1413, the exact date of the granting of town rights is not known. At the end of the 15th century Půta Švihovský struck the town of the castle rule Švihov , later Měčín came to Roupov for a while . When the Švihov estates were divided up under Heralt Kavka Říčanský, Měčín became an independent manor again around 1580, the seat of which was the new castle (Nový hrad). In addition to the town of Měčín, the estate also included the villages of Luh and Vlčí . Around 1610 the estate was annexed to the Žinkovy rule . In the 18th century, Elisabeth Countess von Klenau, b. from Wallmerode the place. At that time, mining for copper and tin was also carried out near Měčín. Around 1770 the Vrtba family became the owners of Měčín.

After the abolition of patrimonial the town of Měčín belonged to the judicial district of Nepomuk from 1850 and to the district of Přestitz from 1868 . After the end of the Second World War, Měčín lost its town charter. In 1948 the owner of the estate, Bohumil Kubec, was expropriated. During the administrative reform of 1960, the municipality of Měčín came to Okres Klatovy. Since 1992 Měčín has been a town again.

Local division

The town of Měčín consists of the districts Bíluky ( Biluk ), Hráz ( dam ), Měčín ( Metschin ), Nedanice ( Groß Nedanitz ), Nedaničky ( Klein Nedanitz ), Osobovy ( Wosobau ), Petrovice ( Petrowitz ), Radkovice ( Radkowitz ) and ( Groß Trebischau ). Měčín also includes the location Černovec ( Tschernowetz ).

The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Bíluky, Měčín, Nedanice, Nedaničky, Petrovice u Měčína, Radkovice u Měčína and Třebýcina.
