Strakonitz district

The Strakonice District ( Czech : Okresní hejtmanství Strakonice ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in South Bohemia and in the Central Bohemian hill country in today's Jihočeský kraj ( Okres Strakonice or Okres Strakonice). The seat of the district administration was the city of Strakonice (Strakonice). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The Strakonitz district was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts Strakonitz (Czech: soudní okres Strakonice ), Horažďowitz ( Horažďovice ) and Wolin ( Volyně ).

In 1869 there were 73,760 people living in the Strakonitz district, with the district comprising an area of ​​15.3 square miles and 112 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 74,195 people who lived in an area of ​​86,329 km² or in 114 communities.

The Strakonitz district in 1910 covered an area of ​​863.29 km² and a population of 73,903 people. In 1910, 73,737 of the inhabitants had given Czech and 69 German as their colloquial language. Furthermore, 97 foreign speakers or foreigners lived in the district. The district included three judicial districts with a total of 155 communities and 214 cadastral communities.
