District Taus

The district of Taus ( Czech : Okresní hejtmanství Domažlice ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in western Bohemia in what is now Plzeňský kraj ( Okres Domažlice ). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The district of Taus was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Taus (Czech: soudní okres Domažlice ) and Neugedein ( Kdyně ).

The district of Taus lived 46,739 people in 1869, the district comprising an area of ​​8.5 square miles and 64 parishes. In 1900 the district housed 46,722 people who lived in an area of ​​492.18 km² or in 71 communities.

The district of Taus covered in 1910 an area of ​​492.17 km² and a population of 48,680 people. Of the inhabitants, 39,946 had given Czech and 8,515 German as their colloquial language. In addition, there were 219 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. Two judicial districts with a total of 74 communities and 83 cadastral communities belonged to the district.
