Rokitzan district

The Rokitzan District (also Rokycan , Czech : Okresní hejtmanství Rokycany ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in western Bohemia in today's Plzeňský kraj ( Okres Plzeň-jih or Okres Plzeň-město ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Pilsen (Plzeň). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The later area of ​​the Rokitzan District was originally divided into the Pilsen and Hořowitz districts formed in 1868 . The Pilsen district was formed from the judicial districts of Pilsen (Czech: soudní okres Plzeň ), Blowitz ( Blovice ) and Rokitzan ( Rokycany ), the district of Hořowitz from the judicial districts of Hořowitz (Czech: soudní okres Hořovice ), Beraun ( Beroun ) and Zbirow ( Zbiroh ).

The Rokitzan District was finally formed on September 1, 1896 from the Rokitzan and Zbirow judicial districts, which were separated from the Pilsen and Hořowitz districts and merged to form the Rokitzan District.

In 1900 the district of Rokitzan accommodated 60,389 people who lived in an area of ​​711.02 km² or in 86 parishes.

In 1910 the district covered an area of ​​711.02 km² and a population of 59,659 people. 59,106 of the inhabitants had given Czech and 347 German as their colloquial language. In addition, there were 206 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. The district included two judicial districts with a total of 86 communities and 97 cadastral communities.
