Preßnitz district

The Preßnitz District ( Czech Okresní hejtmanství Přísečnice, politický okres Přísečnice ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in the western part of northern Bohemia in the Okres Chomutov . The seat of the district administration was the town of Preßnitz ( Přísečnice ). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

history

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

In 1868, the Kaaden district was formed on parts of the area that would later become the Preßnitz district , consisting of the judicial districts of Preßnitz , Duppau and Kaaden .

In 1902, the Weipert judicial district was formed by splitting off several communities from the judicial district of Preßnitz . As of October 1, 1902, Preßnitz was raised to its own district authority, which was formed from the judicial districts of Preßnitz and Weipert.

The Preßnitz district covered an area of ​​150.57 km² in 1910 and housed a population of 31,517 people. In 1910, 30,745 of the residents stated German as their colloquial language. Furthermore, 52 Czech speakers and 720 foreign speakers or foreigners lived in the district. The district included two judicial districts with a total of 20 communities and 21 cadastral communities.
