Adolf Guggenbühl

Adolf Guggenbühl (born June 21, 1896 in Zurich ; † January 21, 1971 in Olten ; resident in Zurich and Uetikon am See ) was a Swiss publicist and publisher .

Life

Guggenbühl studied at the Universities of Zurich , Bern , Berlin and Montpellier . In 1920 he received his doctorate from the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bern. rer. pole. He has worked in England and the USA.

In 1925 he founded the magazine and the publishing house Schweizer Spiegel in Zurich with his wife and brother-in-law Fortunat Huber . The magazine appeared in the Second World War as a conservative representative of intellectual national defense . In 1938 he founded the Bund Schwyzertütsch (today dialect forum ) together with Eugen Dieth .

In addition, Guggenbühl was the author of various books on Swiss history and culture and the editor of various collections of Swiss German poetry , a dictionary for Zurich German and a book for Swiss etiquette (Der Schweizerische Knigge: A breviary for contemporary manners) .

Adolf Guggenbühl is the grandfather of the psychologist Allan Guggenbühl .
