Church of St. Peter and Paul

The first written mention of Wolaw was in 1384 in connection with the Church of St. Peter and Paul. The village was subsequently referred to as Wolow and from 1431 as Wolynye . Wolaw belonged to the possessions of the Lords of Schönburg in the Hassensteiner portion of the Pressnitz estates. Nikolaus von Lobkowicz was given lordship for his services in taking Hassenstein Castle in 1417 . From 1431 there is evidence of a free court in Wolynye . The testator was exempt from the robot obligation; Triebischl and Zieberle were also subordinate to him . The inheritance court had brewing and serving rights. During the Thirty Years' War the place fell into desolation. In the berní rula from 1654, one farmer, six gardeners and 21 cottagers are identified for Wohlau. There is evidence of a school in Wohlau since 1680, which was given its own schoolhouse in 1690. In 1748 the village consisted of 35 houses and a mill. In 1787 the village had grown to 43 houses. In the 19th century the magnetite mine Peter and Paul colliery was built , which was not very profitable. Lime was also quarried near Wohlau until 1848.

After the abolition of patrimonial Wohlau formed from 1850 a community in the district administration Kaaden . In the 1890s the community was assigned to the Preßnitz district. In 1893 a new cemetery was built. The road to Reischdorf was built between 1896 and 1897. According to the Munich Agreement , the village was added to the German Reich in 1938 and until 1945 belonged to the Preßnitz district , the dissolution of which was announced in 1939, but was not carried out until the end of the Second World War. As part of the judicial district of Preßnitz, Wohlau should fall to the district of Kaaden . After the end of the war, Volyně returned to Czechoslovakia and the German residents were expelled . In 1951 Volyně became a part of Výsluní. In 1975 Volyně lost its status as a district of Výsluní. The district of Volyně has existed again since 1999. The church in Volyně was reconstructed in 2009.
