Königgrätz district

The Königgrätz District ( Czech : Okresní hejtmanství Hradec Králové ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in Eastern Bohemia in today's Královéhradecký kraj ( Okres Hradec Králové ). The seat of the district administration was the city of Königgrätz (Hradec Králové). The area has belonged to the newly founded Czechoslovakia since 1918 and has been part of the Czech Republic since 1993 .

history

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The district of Königgrätz was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Hořitz (Czech: soudní okres Hořice ), Nechanitz ( Nechanice ) and Königgrätz ( Hradec Králové ).

On October 1, 1903, the judicial district Hořice was separated from the Königgrätz district, where it subsequently formed the Neupaka district together with the judicial district Neupaka ( Nová Paka ) from the Jičin district .

In the Königgrätz district lived 84,791 people in 1869, the district encompassing an area of ​​11.8 square miles and 133 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 67,577 people who lived in an area of ​​459.56 km² or in 96 communities.

In 1910 the Königgrätz district covered an area of ​​459.54 km² and housed a population of 74,125 people. Of the inhabitants in 1910, 73,131 stated Czech and 721 German as their colloquial language. Furthermore, there were 273 foreign speakers or foreigners living in the district. Two judicial districts with a total of 96 communities and 98 cadastral communities belonged to the district.
