The district of Kaplitz ( Czech Okresní hejtmanství Kaplice ) was a political district in the Kingdom of Bohemia . The district comprised areas in the south of Bohemia, which are now part of the Okres České Budějovice or the Okres Český Krumlov and lie on the border with Austria . The seat of the district administration was the town of Kaplitz ( Kaplice ).

The modern, political districts of the Habsburg Monarchy were created in 1868 when the political and judicial administration was separated.

The Kaplitz district was formed in 1868 from the judicial districts of Kaplitz (Czech: soudní okres Kaplice), Hohenfurth ( Vyšší Brod ) and Gratzen ( Nové Hrady ).

The Kaplitz district lived 53,968 people in 1869, with the district encompassing an area of ​​15.7 square miles and 63 parishes.

In 1900 the district accommodated 53,600 people who lived in an area of ​​905.78 km² or in 77 communities.

The Kaplitz district covered an area of ​​905.76 km² in 1910 and a population of 53,796 people. Of the residents, 50,840 indicated German as their colloquial language. Furthermore, 2,848 Czech speakers and 108 foreign speakers or foreigners lived in the district. 72% of the Czech-speaking minority lived in the judicial district of Kaplitz. The district included three judicial districts with a total of 78 communities and 101 cadastral communities.

The area was after the First World War the Czechoslovak been slammed shut. In 1939 it was incorporated as the district of Kaplitz with 84 communities in the Reichsgau Oberdonau of the Third Reich .
