Lužnice (German Luschnitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 23 kilometers northeast of the city center of České Budějovice and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .
geography
The place is located below the Rosenberg pond on the left bank of the Lainsitz (Lužnice), which gave the village its name. To the west is the Velký and Malý Tisý nature reserve with a large number of other large and small fish ponds.
Neighboring towns are Klec in the north, Kolence and Novosedly nad Nežárkou in the north-east, Mláka in the east, Stará Hlína and Nová Hlína in the south-east, Holičky, Třeboň and Břilice in the south, Přeseka in the south-west, Horní Slověnice in the west and Lomnice nad- west Lužnicí in the north.
history
The village of Luznicz was first mentioned in a document in 1371. The place belonged to the Lomnitzer Gut der Landsteiner, a line of the Wittigonen . In 1435 Ulrich II von Rosenberg brought Lužnice back from the Hussites and incorporated the village into the Třeboň rule. In 1660 the Schwarzenbergs became the owners of Lužnice. The first school building was built between 1830 and 1833. In 1840, 449 people lived in the 49-house town.
In the years 1869 to 1872 the railway was built. In 1890 Luschnitz was flooded by a strong flood of the Lainsitz. In 1900 the population had grown to 588. In 1922, a power station was built below the dike of the Rosenwerk pond.
In 1976 it was incorporated into Lomnice nad Lužnicí. Since July 1, 1990, Lužnice has been a municipality again.
