Bednárec (Czech formerly Velký Bednárec , also Český Bednárec ; German Groß Bernharz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic with 110 inhabitants. It is located nine kilometers northeast of Jindřichův Hradec and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .
geography
Bednárec is located on a slope on the left side of the Žirovnice in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . The upper village, known as Kopec, offers a wide view of the Bohemian Forest and the Gratzener Bergland . The 592 m high Myslivna rises to the southeast. The railway lines Veselí nad Lužnicí - Jihlava and Jarošov nad Nežárkou - Batelov run through the village .
Neighboring towns are Hostějeves and Pejdlova Rosička in the north, Kamenný Malíkov and Bednáreček in the north-east, Česká Olešná in the east, Nová Olešná and Mutyněves in the south-east, Oldřiš and Matějovec in the south, Jarošov nad Nežěčekou in the south-west and north-west, and Nekrasodín-west.
history
The village belonging to the Lords of Neuhaus was first mentioned in a document in 1377 in connection with Konrad von Bednárec. At that time there was a wooden fortress in the village, which Mikuláš from Binharec bought in 1395. Bednárec formed at that time a center of Waldensian .
In 1585, a plague epidemic broke out, killing 50 residents within three weeks. In 1693 a plague of locusts broke out.
On August 29, 1887, before the official inauguration on November 3, the first train from Veselí nad Lužnicí to Jihlava rolled through the town. In the 1921 census, 323 people lived in the village. In 1945 there were 249. Bednárec was incorporated into Jarošov nad Nežárkou on January 1, 1975, and since December 6, 1990, it has been an independent municipality again.

Attractions
- Lady Chapel on the village square, the chapel built in 1795 housed the Pieta by Bednárec from the beginning of the 16th century until 1965. The wooden work of art can now be seen on permanent loan in the South Bohemian Mikoláš Aleš Gallery at the Hluboká nad Vltavou Castle.
