history
The market village was first mentioned in writing in 1267. On the edge of what would later become a town there was a castle that was destroyed during the Hussite Wars . Originally the village was called Řečice. The addition Kardaš (Turkish kardeş = brother), the name of a pond near the city, was added in the 16th century. Kardasch Retschitz received 1407 town rights , which were confirmed in 1992 by a decision of the ČNR .
One of the sights of the community is the church of St. John the Baptist , the cornerstones of which are a Romanesque - Gothic cathedral from the 14th century. Today it is a single-nave building with an angular Renaissance tower, a walkway and an onion dome. About one kilometer from the community there is a Jewish cemetery, which was laid out in 1650 and whose oldest gravestones date from the 18th century.
Kardašova Řečice has had a partnership with the Swiss municipality of Oberdiessbach since 2001 . There are regular student exchanges.
