Pleše (German Plasche , formerly Plesche ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 15 kilometers northwest of Jindřichův Hradec and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .
geography
Pleše is located in South Bohemia on a hill above the town of Kardašova Řečice . To the north there is a sports airfield, below which the railway line from Jindřichův Hradec to Veselí nad Lužnicí passes, the next stop of which is in Záhoří .
Neighboring towns are Višňová in the northeast, Pohoří and Klenov in the east, Kardašova Řečice in the southeast, Nítovice in the south, Vřesná and Drahov in the southwest, Zlukov in the west and Újezdec and Záhoří in the northwest.
history
The village Plesi was first mentioned in a document in 1384. The place was created around 1200 by Czech settlers on the territory of the Lords of Neuhaus and belonged to Řečice . When the town was divided in 1292, one half of the town fell to Ulrich II von Neuhaus on Chlumetz and the gentlemen Sezimovo Ústí, related to him .
In 1862 the village had 570 inhabitants, the number declined from the turn of the century.
