Doňov (German Donow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 19 kilometers northwest of Jindřichův Hradec and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .
geography
Doňov is located on Doňovský potok in a pond landscape in South Bohemia. South of the village is the 10-hectare Podveský rybik pond. In the southwest runs the railway line from Jindřichův Hradec to Veselí nad Lužnicí , whose Doňov stop is in Záhoří, two kilometers away .
Neighboring towns are Lžín in the northeast, Záhoří in the east, Pleše in the southeast, Újezdec in the south, Zlukov in the southwest, Řípec in the west and Dráchov in the northwest.
history
Doňov was established as a single farm in the border forest between the Chýnov and Doudleby estates. The farm was first mentioned in documents in 1402, when it was exchanged for the Třeboň monastery . In 1565 the Rosenbergs bought Doňov and from 1631 the place belonged again to the Třeboň monastery. After its secularization in 1783, the Schwarzenbergs bought the village in 1787 and held it until the patrimonial rule was replaced in 1848.
After the construction of the Kaiserstraße from Vienna to Prague, numerous stagecoaches and wagoners drove through the village, which had previously made a living from agriculture. An inn with relaxation was created for the travelers. On November 3, 1887 Doňov received a stop on the newly built railway Veselí nad Lužnicí - Havlíčkův Brod , which is located in Záhoří.
