Domanín (German Domanin ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 19 kilometers east of the center of České Budějovice and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .
geography
Domanín is located on the territory of the UNESCO Třeboňsko Biosphere Reserve in the plain of the Vitovian Basin . The village is surrounded by a large number of ponds, of which the Svět ( World Pond ) in the north is the largest. The Výhon (475 m) rises to the west.
Neighboring towns are Třeboň and Vrchy in the northeast, Branná in the east, Hrachoviště in the southeast, Kojákovice in the south, Mladošovice in the southwest, Spolí and Libín in the west and Vranín in the northwest.
history
The village was first mentioned in 1367 as the property of the Třeboň monastery , to which it belonged until the secularization in 1785. In the 14th and 15th centuries, several large fish ponds were created around the place. During the Thirty Years' War the place was down, some of the residents were killed and others died of starvation. In the Austro-Prussian War in 1866, Prussian troops were billeted to bring cholera with them.
In 1874 the burial place of the Schwarzenbergs was built in the corridors of the community at the Weltteich . 26 members of the house were buried in the burial chapel, consecrated in 1877.

Attractions
- Chapel with a copy of the image of the Entombment of Christ from the 14th century, built in 1924. The original from the old chapel in Domanín is in the National Gallery in Prague
- Cemetery church of St. Egidius am Weltteich, the church that has been documented since 1515, was expanded by Jan Vlach from 1574 to 1576 and redesigned in Baroque style in 1776
- Crypt chapel Heavenly Savior of the House of Schwarzenberg at the Weltteich; the burial place of the Schwarzenbergs, surrounded by an English park, is a neo-Gothic building by Damasius Deworetzky from the years 1874 to 1877, which was erected on muddy ground
