Studená ( German  Studein ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 21 kilometers east of Jindřichův Hradec and belongs to the Okres Jindřichův Hradec .

geography

Studená is located in the Studenský potok valley in Javořická vrchovina in southeast Moravia. The 837 m high Javořice rises northeast . The settlement of Nový Svět has historically been part of Bohemia.

Neighboring towns are Domašín and Horní Pole in the north, Horní Bolíkov and Sumrakov in the east, Skrýchov in the south-east, Horní Němčice in the south, Jilem in the south-west, Palupín and Horní Dvorce in the west and Zahrádky in the north-west.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in 1365 in a purchase confirmation for Dietrich von Obratan, who bought it from the von Neuhaus family . When Zacharias von Neuhaus bought Studená in 1558 and added Telč to his rule , the place was already called a town. In the 18th century Studein belonged to the lords of Podstatský-Liechtenstein . After patrimonial was replaced , Studein became an independent market town. At the end of the 19th century, the Satrapa smoked goods factory was established, from which the JASA meat product group emerged in the first half of the 20th century.

Community structure

The municipality of Studená consists of the districts Domašín ( Domaschin ), Horní Bolíkov ( Bolikau ), Horní Pole ( Oberfeld ), Maršov ( Marschau ), Olšany ( Wolschan ), Skrýchov ( Skreichau ), Studená ( Studein ), Sumrakov ( Sumrakau ), Světlá ( Swietla ) and Velký Jeníkov ( Groß Jenikau ), which also form cadastral districts. Studená also includes the residential areas Balkův Mlýn, Blatiny, Brůtka, Dolní Mlýn, Jalovčí ( Galowczy ), Lísky, Maršovský Dvůr, Nový Svět and Paseky ( Pasky ). Basic settlement units are Domašín, Horní Bolíkov, Horní Pole, Jalovčí, Maršov, Olšany, Skrýchov, Studená, Sumrakov, Světlá and Velký Jeníkov.

The municipality is divided into two parts; the southern part (Maršov, Olšany and Velký Jeníkov) is separated from the rest of the municipality by the municipality of Horní Němčice .

Attractions

  • Studená Castle, built after 1365 as a fortress, rebuilt into a Renaissance castle at the end of the 16th century under Zacharias von Neuhaus . Further renovations in the 17th to 19th centuries led to the redesign of the administrative building of the large estate. In 1941 the castle was converted into a residential building.
  • In the former castle brewery, parts of the 1981 film "Postřižiny" by Jiří Menzel based on the novel by Bohumil Hrabal were shot
  • Church of St. Prokop, built in the 14th century as a Gothic building, after the fires of 1755 and 1855 it received its present appearance
  • Statue of St. John of Nepomuk in the market

Sons and daughters of the place

  • František Satrapa (1849–1920), the master butcher who was born in Světlá, founded a renowned company in Studená and presented his smoked products at the culinary exhibitions in Vienna, Paris and Rome. In the company he used gasoline-powered machines
  • Jan Satrapa (1880–1948), the son of František Satrapa, took over the company in 1907. In 1908 he was appointed supplier to the Imperial and Royal Court because of his quality ham . Satrapa founded in 1916 together with the merchant Richard Spitzer from Teltsch the First Moravian factory for Selchwaren and canned GmbH and built the company into a major corporation. In 1917 he and other partners founded a second new factory with the Factory for Smoked Goods and Preserves GmbH in Wolframs . In 1928 both companies were transformed into the JASA, as joint stock company.
