Zacharias von Neuhaus
Zacharias of Hradec (also Zacharias of Hradec , Czech Zachariáš for Hradce * 1527 , † 6. February 1589 ) was from 1558 to 1566 and 1572 to 1587 Chief Chamberlain and from 1567 to 1572 governor of Moravia . He came from the Telsch line of the Lords of Neuhaus .
Life
His parents were Adam I. von Neuhaus and Anna von Rosental ( Anna z Rožmitála a Blatné ). When his father died in 1531, Zacharias was only four years old, which is why he and his siblings were initially placed under the tutelage of their mother and other nobles. From 1546 the older brother Joachim took over the reign and administration of the property. After Zacharias came of age, Joachim divided the paternal inheritance in 1550, with Zacharias Slavonice , Strmilov and Kunžak as well as Teltsch received. In the same year Joachim and Zacharias signed an inheritance contract, according to which one should inherit the other if one of them died without male offspring. Although the emperor granted them an audience on June 2, 1551, during which Zacharias was appointed chamberlain and his brother Joachim was appointed secret council, the emperor only confirmed the inheritance contract between the brothers shortly before his death in 1564.
In 1553 Zacharias married Katharina von Waldstein , as a result of which Zacharias took over the lords of Polná , Ronov with Přibyslav and Borova with the monastery property of Pohled . From 1558–1566 and 1572–1587 Zacharias held the office of Moravian Chamberlain. In the meantime he was governor of Moravia from 1567 to 1572 . In 1574, his ward, Katharina von Ludanitz, signed the rule of Rokytnice over to him as compensation for her debt . He sold this three years later to Joachim Haugwitz von Biskupitz.
Zacharias resided at Teltsch Castle , which he had the Italian builder Antonio Ericer converted into a Renaissance castle. He managed his possessions wisely and prudently. He is said to have been the richest magnate of Moravia and left seven lordships with five cities, eleven Městys , 112 villages, a treasury and hard cash. Since he survived his only son Meinhard, the property fell to his nephew Adam II von Neuhaus after Zacharias death in 1589 according to the inheritance agreement of 1550 . After his death he was buried in the All Saints Chapel of the Teltscher Castle. The time of his reign is known as Telsch's Golden Age .
