Life
The life dates of Antonio Ericer are unknown. In some sources he is also referred to as Antonín Vlach . He came from Italy and was best known as a master builder for the noble families of Rosenberg and Neuhaus in South Bohemia , for whom he worked in the third quarter of the 16th century.
Antonio Ericer is first recorded as the owner of a house in Neuhaus (Jindřichův Hradec) in 1559 . There it is also recorded for the years 1564 and 1573, when he was busy with renovation work on Neuhaus Castle on behalf of the Lords of Neuhaus . He also built a house for them on Prague's Lesser Town in 1562 . 1567–1572 he built the Teltsch Castle (Telč) into a Renaissance castle for the Moravian governor Zacharias von Neuhaus .
For Wilhelm von Rosenberg he worked at Krumau Castle from 1561–1564 and at Fraunberg Castle (Hluboká) from 1563–1566 . 1565-1575 he rebuilt the castle Wittingau (Třeboň) for him in the Renaissance style and expanded it to the southwest wing, the entrance gate and a tower.
Antonio Ericer in Neubistritz is documented for the year 1570 , where he probably converted the 13th century castle into a palace on behalf of the Kraiger von Kraigk family . He worked for Messrs. Trčka von Lípa in Světlá and Ledeč .
The captain of the Neuhaus estate, Šťastný Pušperský z Pleší, complained about Antonio Ericer that he was unreliable and rarely found on his construction sites. He was last mentioned in 1574. Much of the work he started was completed by his compatriot Baldassare Maggi .
