Sala Capriasca is a village and a former political municipality in the Capriasca district , in the Lugano district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .
geography
The village is at 550 m above sea level. M. on the heights between the Val Capriasca and the Vedeggiothal ; two and a half kilometers east of the Taverne station on the Bellinzona - Lugano - Chiasso line of the Swiss Federal Railways .
history
The village was first mentioned in 1078 under the then name Sale . In the first half of the 15th century, it had to provide the Duke of Milan with 51 soldiers and numerous war materials. In October 1413 Emperor Sigismund signed an agreement with Duke Filippo Maria Visconti of Milan in the Sala plain . In December 1478 the Swiss took the place, killed two residents and set the village on fire on December 9th. At that time it was attached. In 1484 it suffered from the plague.
Community merger
On October 15, 2001, Sala Capriasca was merged with Tesserete , Campestro and the district "Odogno", Cagiallo , Lopagno , Roveredo Capriasca and Vaglio to form the new municipality of Capriasca .
