Origlio is a political municipality in the Capriasca district , in the Lugano district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland in the Capriasca Valley and consists of the districts Origlio and Carnago . The Lago di Origlio in the municipality is under nature protection.

geography

The village is 450 m above sea level. M. at the small Origlioseelein and 3 km east of the Taverne train station on the Bellinzona - Lugano - Chiasso line of the Swiss Federal Railways . Neighboring communities are Torricella-Taverne , Ponte Capriasca , Capriasca , Comano , Cureglia and Lamone .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1335 as Orellio. In the Middle Ages there was a fortified tower here. In the first half of the 15th century, the community had to provide the Duke of Milan with 27 soldiers and war material.

Community merger

Efforts to merge with the municipality of Ponte Capriasca were underway; Ponte Origlio was requested as a new community name . The project was dropped in December 2013 after negative votes in the municipalities.
