Lugaggia is a former political municipality in the district of Capriasca , in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

geography

The village is located at 506 m above sea level. M. in the Capriasca and nine kilometers north of the Lugano train station . The Lüèra exclave belongs to the former municipality of Lugaggia.

history

The village was first mentioned in 1217 under the then name Lugaza . Lugaggia was a municipality and in the first half of the 14th century had to deliver 16 soldiers and war material to the Duke of Milan . It was devastated in the fighting between Guelphs and Ghibellines by the people of Sonvico on March 10th and March 15th. 1500 partly cremated. In 1583 the village separated from the old Capriasca cooperative.

Community merger

On April 20, 2008 it merged with Bidogno and Corticiasca to form the new municipality of Capriasca .

Personalities

  • Battista Moggi (* around 1650 in Lugaggia; † after 1687 there?), Sculptor in Tesserete
  • Carlo Storni (* 1738 in Lugaggia, † 1806 in Rome ), from Lugaggia, painter in Rome. Between 1775 and 1778, Storni painted some valuable frescoes in the Villa Lancellotti in Frascati for the Piccolomini family , who owned the building at the time. In 1792 he also created the pictures of the Fifteen Mysteries of the Rosary in the parish church of Tesserete Storni owned a paint and painting equipment shop in Rome that still exists today: the most famous names in Italian and international painting were used here ( Giorgio Morandi , Giorgio de Chirico , Renato Guttuso , Balthus , Enzo Cucchi , Mimmo Paladino ).

    • Giuseppe Antonini, architect (* 1896 in Lugaggia; † 1962 in Santa Margherita Ligure ), studies at the Maria Hilf Lyceum in Schwyz (municipality) , 1921 architect at ETH Zurich , 1945 founder of the Ticino group of the Federazione Architetti Svizzeri (FAS), he built : 1948–1950 Chiesa di San Nicolao della Flüe (Lugano), the summer seminary in Prato (Leventina) and the Palazzo vescovile in Lugano.
  • Pio Edo Cassina (born May 16, 1915 in Curio; † 1995 in Rossura ), painter, draftsman, restorer, he promoted the restoration of the parish church of San Lorenzo e Agata of Rossura, lecturer at the Liceo of Lugano; September 27, 1942 he finished his fresco Il Divin Maestro in the village of alla Mora between Curio and Bedigliora; other frescoes are in the Bombinasco Madonna di Caravaggio , in the Costa di Sessa Sant'Agata and in the Certara San Pietro da Verona martire in the parish church
