Campestro is a former municipality in the county Capriasca , district Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

geography

The village is 588 m above sea level. M. in the Val Capriasca ; 4.5 km north of the Taverne station on the Bellinzona - Chiasso line of the Swiss Federal Railways .

history

The village had to provide 21 soldiers to the Duke of Milan in the first half of the 15th century . It belongs to the parish of Tesserete , which in 1799 had to pay a levy of 18 lire.

Community merger

In 1976 Campestro merged with Tesserete . Since October 15, 2001 is a fraction of the municipality Capriasca .
