Bidogno is a former municipality in the county Capriasca , district Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

geography

The village is 790 m above sea level. M. in Val Colla (valley) , 9 kilometers north of Lugano , on the right bank of the Cassarates , surrounded by chestnut groves.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document as Biadogno in the 12th century and was probably created as a permanent settlement in connection with the transhumant pasture farming operated by the inhabitants of the Capriasca in Val Colla . The parish of Bidogno, which broke away from Tesserete in 1615 , included Somazzo, Treggia (district of Lopagno) and Corticiasca (with the district of Carusio).

Community merger

On April 20, 2008, Bidogno, Corticiasca and Lugaggia merged with the previous municipality of Capriasca (capital Tesserete ) to form the new municipality of Capriasca .

Attractions

The village image is classified in the inventory of protected sites in Switzerland (ISOS) as a site of national importance in Switzerland.

  • The church of San Barnaba was built on the foundations of an older Romanesque church and was consecrated in 1487, it contains stucco work in the Madonna chapel and in the Anthony chapel as well as the mural Saint Stefano and Sebastiano in the Persbiterium.

  • The Madonna Della Divina Maestà (or Maria Delle Grazie) church was built between 1644 and 1646
  • The wealthy families of the village donated a Way of the Cross, lined with 14 small chapels, which was built between 1756 and 1758
