Rossura (dt. Obsolete: Rossur ) was a municipality in the Faido district , in the Leventina district of the canton of Ticino in Switzerland . Since January 29, 2006 it has been part of the Faido municipality .

geography

Rossura is located on a terrace on the left slope of the Leventina Valley at 1056 m above sea level. The parish church of Santi Lorenzo e Agata stands a little outside the village on a hill , which together with the typical wooden houses in the village center creates a picturesque picture.

The former municipality of Rossura also included the villages of Molare (first mentioned in the 13th century), Figgione and Tengia, which are on the same terrace as Rossura, and Molare. The latter is on a higher terrace at 1450 meters. Figgione, Rossura and Tengia are on the Strada Alta .

history

The village was first mentioned in 1201 as Resora, Resura .

Merger with Faido

In a referendum in March 2004, the citizens of Rossura approved the merger of their municipality with Faido , Osco , Mairengo , Calpiogna , Campello , Cavagnago , Anzonico , Chiggiogna and Calonico .

The merger project for the new municipality, which as a result of the rejection of an earlier merger project by some of the above-mentioned municipalities only includes the municipalities of Faido, Chiggiogna , Calonico and Rossura, was approved in a referendum on June 5, 2005 and received yours on January 29, 2006 new executive and legislative branches. The community of Rossura last had 62 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2005).
