Seregno is a municipality with 45,447 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Monza and Brianza in the Italian region of Lombardy .
geography
The city is located in upper Lombardy about 10 km from Monza and only 20 km from Milan . Seregno is close to the lakes and the Alps .
history
At the end of the 19th century, Seregno was a market town in the Italian province of Milan in the Monza district , on the railway from Milan to Como , with an octagonal but unfinished church, cotton and silk industry, carpentry, important trade and 6139 inhabitants (1881). 1884 was Olivetans - Abbey founded in 1895 and dedicated to the neo-Romanesque abbey church.

The city is on the Milan-Como, Seregno- Novara and Seregno- Usmate railway lines . A tram (tram) Desio - Seregno - Giussano was opened in 1881.
