The Torre Acquedotto in Biassono

Biassono is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 12,264 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 5 kilometers north of Monza and about 20 kilometers north-northeast of Milan on the edge of the Parco Regionale della Valle del Lambro. The Lambro flows through the district of San Giorgio al Lambro.

history

Biassono is said to have been the birthplace of Ansperto , Bishop of Milan (868 until his death in 881). Possibly the name of the municipality goes back to a fortification (Fortezza dei Blasoni). The Biassono Monastery was temporarily the home of the Guglielmites .

Economy and Transport

In the municipality is the Autodromo Nazionale Monza , the Monza racetrack, which every September hosts a Formula 1 race (Monza Grand Prix). The Biassono-Lesmo Parco train station on the Monza-Molteno railway line exists together with the municipality of Lesmo . The S7 line of the Milan S-Bahn is expected to stop here from June 2012 .
