Lesmo is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8558 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 8 kilometers north-northeast of Monza and about 22 kilometers north-northeast of Milan east of the Lambro at the Parco della Valle del Lambro . The municipality borders directly on the province of Lecco .

history

A permanent settlement has been proven as early as the first century BC. The settlement was possibly called Ledesmunus or Ledexismunus .

Economy and Transport

The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Yamaha maintains a location for racing here . The proximity to the Autodromo Nazionale Monza racetrack was decisive for this. On the Monza – Molteno railway line there is a stop with the neighboring municipality of Biassono ( Biassono-Lesmo Parco ). There is also a spatially separate stop on the Seregno – Ponte San Pietro railway line .
