Cavenago di Brianza is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7393 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 11 kilometers east of Monza and about 22.5 kilometers northeast of Milan at Parco Rio Vallone . Cavenago di Brianza borders directly on the metropolitan city of Milan .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 873. As with the Varesian community Caponago, the name is borrowed from the Latin place name Caponiacum . But it may also be of more recent origin and borrowed from Ca venationes . In 2009 the municipality was transferred from the province of Milan to the newly established province of Monza and Brianza.
