Villasanta is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 14,059 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 3.5 kilometers northeast of Monza and about 18 kilometers northeast of Milan . In the broadest sense, the municipality can still be assigned to the Po Valley . The municipality is located on the eastern edge of the Parco della Valle del Lambro . The Lambro flows a little to the west .

Local government

history

The original foundations of the church dedicated to St. Anastasia can be traced back to 768. Presumably the origin can be dated back further, so that there was already a building of God around 500.

In 1929 the district of La Santa was detached from the area of ​​the city of Monza and connected to Villa San Fiorano .

The environmental disaster at Lambro occurred in 2010.

Villasanta is within the dense road network of Monza and Milan. To Autostrada A51 is only 5 kilometers. Villasanta has been connected to rail traffic with a train station on the non-electrified line from Monza to Molteno (as a section of the Milan- Lecco line ) since 1911. The line is also planned as part of the Milan S-Bahn (S 7).
