Cesano Maderno is a northern Italian municipality (comune) with 39,518 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy . The municipality is located on the eastern edge of the Parco delle Groane . The municipality was granted full city rights by presidential decree in 1999. The municipality is located about twelve kilometers northwest of Monza and about 20 kilometers north of Milan city center.

Cesano Maderno maintains an intra-Italian partnership with the municipality of Campomaggiore in the province of Potenza and two other partnerships with the French municipality of Valençay in the Indre department and with the Ukrainian city of Chernivtsi in the Chernivtsi Oblast .
