Besana in Brianza is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 15,610 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy . The place is about 15 kilometers north of Monza and about 18 kilometers southwest of Lecco . Since 1971 the place has had the title Città (city) due to a presidential decree . The municipality borders the province of Lecco .

history

An inscription, which can be dated to the year 69 AD and was found in the district of Valle Guidino, already gives information about the location. In the Middle Ages, the area was under the Archbishop of Milan .
