Cogliate is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8542 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy . The municipality is located about 16 kilometers northwest of Monza and about 20 kilometers northwest of Milan at the Parco delle Groane . Cogliate borders directly on the provinces of Como and Varese . The Guisa flows through the municipality, unites with the Nirone to form the Merlata and then flows into the Olona .

history

An early settlement in antiquity is possible, but not proven. With the establishment of the Benedictine monastery di San Dalmazio , the place also gains a certain importance, even if only for a short time.
