The province of Varese is a province in the Italian region of Lombardy . Its largest communities include Busto Arsizio, Cassano Magnago, Castellanza, Gallarate, Luino, Malnate, Samarate, Saronno, Somma Lombardo and Tradate. It was founded on September 2, 1927 by a ministerial decree. The northern part around Varese previously belonged to the province of Como , the southern part between Legnano and Gallarate to the province of Milan .
