The municipality is located about 10.5 kilometers south-southeast of Varese on the Olona and covers an area of ​​3.88  km² . The districts of Castel Seprio and Vico Seprio and the hamlet of Cascina Brughera belong to Castelseprio. The tenor forms the western municipal boundary . Castelseprio is one of an important archaeological site in northern Italy with European significance.
